Welcome from Allison Vallaincourt
Honorary Chair of the 2009 UA Cares Campaign
Dear Colleague,
I am delighted to serve as the honorary chair for 2009 UA Cares, The University of Arizona’s charitable campaign. Thanks to the steadfast efforts of our exceptional employees --- faculty, staff, and appointed professionals --- the UA continues to offer students and educators one of the best learning environments in the country, despite a very challenging economy.
The University’s reputation, contributions, and quality are a function of exceptional people – people who also understand the importance of advancing the common good in the areas of Education, Income, and Health. Members of the UA community have traditionally been generous in their support of these essential building blocks and I am confident that this impressive trend will continue this year.

Since the inception of UA Cares seven years ago, the UA family has donated nearly three million dollars, supporting critical University and community programs. This year, many more people and programs are in dire need of assistance. Our help is needed now more than ever.
The 2009 UA Cares campaign begins on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. I ask you to make a difference by giving to any University program through the University of Arizona Foundation, or to any Impact Area or 501(c)(3) non-profit agency through the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, or both. In order to surpass last year’s campaign results, we need you to give at a level to which you feel comfortable.
Please consider using the University’s secure and easy online giving option for payroll deduction gifts through Employee Link:
https://emplink.arizona.edu. If you have any questions about the campaign, visit the UA Cares website at
www.uacares.arizona.edu or contact Holly Altman in the Office of Community Relations at 626-4671.
Together, our gifts create a tapestry of caring that supports a strong community. I look forward to another successful UA Cares campaign, and thank you in advance for your participation.
Sincerely,
Allison Vaillancourt
