As part of United Way’s Annual Days of Caring, UA is building a team of 30 volunteers to help beautify and improve Cottonwood Elementary’s playground areas.   We’ll be creating pathways, a garden, a desert scape where students can learn about native plants and updating the Kindergarten/1st grade play area with grass, a fence, and some additional trees.

Some of the tasks will be landscaping, moving rocks, raking, decorating, painting, and an whole lot moreJ   Kids 12 and over are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult.  Remember, there will tools, machinery, and the typical chaos of a big project so please take this into account when scheduling kids.  10 spots open!

Event organizers need help at the registration table for the upcoming ALS Walk.   Looking for friendly volunteers to join me.  Are you good with details, remain calm under the possible pressure of a large event’s registration area?  The morning will zoon by.  We would be trained upon arrival and expected to stay til Noon.

If you’re not familiar with ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease, it’s an extremely progressive disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.  This is a terminal disease that usually progresses far too quickly. 18 and older….5 spots open!
